The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines Sustainable Farm to Table Program has added six new rural communities to its roster of existing partners.

The Sustainable Farm to Table Program is WWF-Philippines’ effort to help communities develop their climate resiliency through food security and agri-business, in partnership with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). A three-part, three-year endeavor, the program adds communities into its fold on a regular basis.

Joining the ranks of communities under the Sustainable Farm to Table are the towns of Mapurong in the Municipality of Oas, Albay; Misericordia in the Municipality of Sto. Domingo, Albay; Suba in the Municipality of Samboan, Cebu; Masumbang in the Municipality of Merida, Leyte; Kauswagan in the Municipality of Manjuyod, Negros Oriental; and Dallag in the Municipality of Arakan, North Cotabato;

“There are a great many rural communities across the country that suffer from a lack of food security and who are vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Only when these communities are able to address these issues that they can take their development into their own hands again,” says WWF-Philippines Sustainable Food Systems Program Manager Muneer Hinay. Hinay has been able to work with over 20 communities through the Sustainable Farm to Table Program since its inception in 2017.

Over the next three years, Hinay hopes to have the six new communities undergo the three phases of the Sustainable Farm to Table Program. These include workshops on sustainable agricultural production, financial literacy, and the development and establishment of agro-enterprises.

As the years pass, the Sustainable Farm to Table Program continues to expand across the Philippines. With communities joining the program with each passing year, WWF-Philippines hopes to bring stability to communities all across the country. Support WWF-Philippines and help bring food security to those most in need of it.
