Climate and Energy Programme (CEP)
Sustainable Production and Market Engagement (SPME)

BACKGROUND

The Philippines is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. And with a growing population that needs vital resources to sustain growth, climate change poses a threat to our development gains and our way of life, leaving us more vulnerable to food insecurity, environmental degradation, climate disasters and conflict. From the cities to the outskirts, low carbon and climate-smart development initiatives, including the use of renewable energy, are needed to power our dreams, drive us out from poverty and realize our full potential as a nation. Clean accessible water, nutritious food from farm to table, efficient energy and transport systems, thriving cities and economy, and a nurturing environment – all of these are essential in
building our peoples’ well-being and resilience. WWF-Philippines has been working as a national organization of the WWF network since 1997 and leads practical solutions to help the Philippines adapt to climate change, secure food and water sources and switch to clean sources of renewable energy. The organization also continues to spearhead campaigns on climate change adaptation and mitigation while infusing sustainability into the lives and businesses of Filipinos.
