Area of Assignment:  One (1) Visayas-based & One (1) Mindanao-based

Reports to:        Project Manager

Internal:            Interacts with the Project Manager for Sustainable Farm to Table, Project Coordinator For the Sustainable Farm to Table Programme, VP for Sustainable Production and Market Engagements (SPME), SPME Project Managers, HR and Accounting, Communications and Marketing

External:           Barangay and Municipal / City Government Officials of the host communities of the Sustainable Farm to Table Programme, National Government Agencies, NGOs and CSOs, community stakeholders, business support organizations (BSOs), people’s organizations (POs) academic and research institutions and other aligned agencies

 

Background of the Project

Recognizing that rural farming communities rely primarily on agriculture-based livelihood, addressing sustainable agricultural growth is paramount. The partnership of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and WWF-Philippines on the Sustainable Farm to Table Programme implemented a programmatic approach in engaging host communities into the farm to table programme. The project involves capacity development interventions to boost agricultural production technology, improve financial literacy and savings mobilization, develop agro-enterprises and build strong community organizations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The community coordinator will facilitate agro-enterprise development and organizational interventions to the partner farmers of the project in key host communities. In particular, the community coordinator will undertake the following:

  1. Accompany the farmers through the steps of the agro-enterprise approach and ensure the farmers active participation in group activities, share their experiences to help the group learn and take responsibility for their agro-enterprise.
  2. Assist in the facilitation of organizational and enterprise development training interventions.
  3. Actively facilitate market linkages (e.g. buyers) and institutional support for the agro-enterprise within the locality.
  4. Facilitate the conduct of regular meetings, agro-enterprise concept orientation and training.
  5. Assist the agro-enterprise in undertaking the market chain study process.
  6. Accompany the agro-enterprise in test marketing of their products.
  7. Ensures the progress of the activities and closely coordinates with local partners from the local government and community stakeholders

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Experience in community organizing, capacity development intervention, organizational and enterprise development, monitoring and evaluation, NGOs, and smallholder farmers;
  2. Strong training / facilitation skills;
  3. Strong data gathering and analytical skills including ability to analyze information from different sources and provide appropriate recommendations;
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment;
  5. Ability to travel in project areas;
  6. Advanced computer skills;
  7. Fluency in Tagalog and English written and oral.
  8. Ability to understand Cebuano, Waray and Ilocano languages is an advantage.

 

Education and/or Experience Requirement:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, business management or related field (Fresh graduates are welcome);
  2. 21-30 years of age;
  3. Knowledgeable on MS Office; and

Must have an experience in data gathering, research and analysis.
