ENERGY

We were able to provide 400 solar lights for our fisherfolk and their families in Burias and Ticao Islands. Together, we were able to #ChangeTheEnding for our food frontliners and their communities. But our work does not stop here. We can help #ChangeTheEnding for more fellow Filipinos by providing them with a sustainable and healthy source of energy.

In these uncertain times when we most need light, there are still communities in the Philippines who live in the darkness of their own houses after the sun sets. Most of the children still need to continue their studies before dark. Fishermen go out and still use kingki or kerosene lamps, which contains sulfur and other impurities that can give an unpleasant oily smell when it burns. The smell can oftentimes cause the fishermen to suffer from headaches.

Let us support the lives of those who feed us and help our fisherfolk and their families rise above this crisis. Send them the gift of light today!

WATER

Rainwater harvesting tanks were installed in Barangays Mabini and Cabugao in Donsol and another water tank will be installed in Barangay Boca Engano, Burias Island, Masbate after the lockdown.

Together, we were able to #ChangeTheEnding for our fellow Filipinos living in some of the most remote communities in our country. But our work does not stop here. We can help #ChangeTheEnding for more fellow Filipinos by providing them with access to clean water. With the global COVID-19 pandemic spreading all over the Philippines, access to water has never been more important. In order for residents to be healthy and safe from the virus, proper washing and hygiene protocols need to be followed, which means that they would need consistent sources of water.

With your help, we can install more rainwater harvesting tanks in the Philippines. Send them the gift of water today!

FOOD

We were able to distribute food assistance to 278 families in Donsol. Donsol is a third class municipality in the province of Sorsogon.

The presence of the Whale Shark, locally known as the Butanding, has contributed to the improvement of the local economy, improving the livelihoods of many people. WWF-Philippines works with the Donsol local government and key tourism stakeholders in implementing a community-based Whale Shark Ecotourism Program. The program has generated jobs for locals - many of whom are now Butanding Interaction Officers (BIOs), tour guides, boat crew members, captains, homestay owners, resort staff, and associated service providers. We consider these locals as modern-day environmental frontliners who are showing the world how sustainability and conservation can go hand-in-hand with economic development and livelihood generation. We need your help so we can support our environmental frontliners in the Philippines during these challenging times.

Your generous contribution will help us provide food assistance to our partner communities. Send them the gift of food today!
