Coke Philippines Opens Happiness at the Ipo Watershed

September 2017

As part of their commitment to support the rehabilitation of forest covering the Ipo Watershed, beverage giant Coca-Cola Philippines sent around 100 employees on different weekends for a series of tree-planting activities. The first event was held on September 23, with around 50 Coca-Cola Foundation volunteer employees showing up to do their part for water security.  The next event was held exactly a week after where 50 employees from Coca-Cola FEMSA also volunteered to get their hands dirty to plant seedlings.

This is part of Coke’s employee engagement program with WWF-Philippines. The more trees that are planted and sustained in the Ipo Watershed, the more densely-compact the soil around the watershed becomes. This effectively holds soil better and helps prevents siltation from occurring. Less siltation results in uninterrupted water supply to 98 percent of Metro Manila, servicing over 14 million individuals.
