The AOK App Launch: Where Art Meets Conservation

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines has been chosen as one of the beneficiary organizations of Acts of Kindness (AOK), a web-app platform connecting artists, individuals, and charitable organizations. By doing so, it provides artists with the necessary tools to elevate their work while also elevating others in need. From each purchase made through AOK, a minimum of 20% goes to a listed charity of choice by the seller.

The application was launched last 8 April 2017 at the Alveo Corporate Center, Bonifacio Global City where the work of AOK artists were exhibited and auctioned later that night. It saw the likes of local artists Patrick Cabral, Fonz Recto, Ivy Lim, John James Uy, Joseph Tecson, Piaget Martelino, Dottie Chan, and Camy Cabral. AOK also features the work of international artists Albrecht Behmel, Kevin Von Holtermann, and Erika Rachel.

Over 150 attendees of the event witnessed CEO Stan Miao and CTO James Florentino sharing their dreams and goals for the app, along with its standard functions. With James heading the development of the app, they were able to incorporate a secure 128-bit encryption as well as a user-friendly interface understandable to all.

WWF-Philippines was one of many partner organizations present, including Smile Train, Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Mano Amiga, Habitat for Humanity, and Cottolengo Filipino. Artists John James Uy, Joseph Tecson, and Patrick Cabral have chosen WWF-Philippines as their exclusive beneficiaries. Their work is available to view online.
