POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Assistant Project Manager
Reports to: Project Manager
Project site: Manila City, position to be based in WWF-Philippines Head Office
Supervises: Business Sector Engagement Coordinator, Ready to Scale Solutions Coordinator and Project Monitoring Officer
Duration: Until December 2024 with six months assessment period 

The World Wide Fund for Nature – Philippines (WWF-Philippines is implementing a project titled “Plastic Smart Cities – TV Aksjonen in Manila City (PSC-TVA Project for Manila City)” that aims to achieve a 30% reduction of plastic waste leakage into environment by 2024, thus contributing to the achievement of 100% reduction of plastic waste leakage in Manila City by 2030. 

This project will have the following interventions: a) Local Policy Support; b) Business Sector Engagement; c) Improvement of waste collection system; d) Implementation of ready to scale social enterprises and solutions; e) Training, Communication and GIS/Mapping.

 

BASIC FUNCTION

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) primary task is to assist the Project Manager in the overall management and implementation of the Plastic Smart Cities Project for Manila City. The APM will be directly responsible for managing the Business Sector Engagement and Ready to Scale Solutions components, and supervise the Project Monitoring Officer. 

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Plastic Smart Cities Assistant Project Manager will be primarily responsible for the following:

  1. Assist the Project Manager in implementing and managing the PSC-TVA Project for Manila City, ensuring that project activities are in accordance with the work plan and project progress is according to targets; 
  2. Provide oversight and guidance as direct technical supervisor of the M&E Officer, ensuring clarity and efficiency in updating and reporting based on the M&E Plan. More importantly, in coordination with the Project Manager lead the project team by ensuring that baselines are established, activities are geared towards achievement of targets, and results are monitored and reported accordingly;
  3. Review and provide recommendations on the project monitoring and evaluation results report;
  4. Oversight the implementation of the Business Sector Engagement and Ready Scale Solutions components activities in coordination with the solution implementors and Project Coordinator; 
  5. In coordination with the rest of the project team, draft the Project Technical Reports and End of Project Term Report. 
  6. Perform other duties as may be relevant and necessary to accomplish the project objectives, and as may be assigned from time to time.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  1. Internal: Within WWF Philippines, this post reports to the Project Manager, and expected to work with other staff under the PSC-TVA Project for Manila City and Project Consultants.
  2. External: City Government, community leaders and members, stakeholders, other NGOs, Media, private sector and Solution Implementors. 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

  • Educational Qualification: At least university degree related to environmental management or social development; technical familiarity with plastics, marine litter and solid waste management is an advantage. 
  • Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience working on implementation of the ready to scale plastic waste reduction solutions, business sector engagement and project monitoring and evaluation. 
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Experience in community engagement
    • Strong communication and inter-personal skills 
    • Good decision-making skills, organized, and takes the initiative
    • Interested and willing to learn the technical aspect in relation to the project implementation, particularly on plastic pollution reduction
    • Willing and able to travel
