SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General and Field Communications 

  • Creates and publishes written materials with appropriate messages and information that will ensure that the key target audiences across projects, programs, and units are addressed: general public,  corporate partners, development partners, government, media, and the global WWF network. 
  • Serves as the main field reporter for the Communications unit, traveling to different project and program sites in order to cover events and initiatives, and create written stories from the ground. Covers field reports and initiatives through photojournalism and helps the Visual Media Officer in collecting, managing, and updating the organization’s internal visual database. 
  • Close coordination with the different project and program units of the organization for their written communications needs. 
  • Covers the various events, initiatives, and activities of the organization and produces the necessary visual and written materials needed.  
  • Assists the Integrated Communications Manager and the Assistant Manager for External  Communications and Ambassador Programs in formulating communications plans and PR/Media plans.
  • Assists the Digital and Social Media Officer in managing and creating content for the various digital channels of the organization. 
  • Helps draft organizational statements, media releases, newsletters, annual reports, and other pertinent Communications and PR initiatives with the Integrated Communications Manager and the  Assistant Manager for External Communications and Ambassador Programs. 
  • Provide initial edits on written communication requirements of the different projects, programs, and units, for the final sign-off of the Integrated Communications Manager.  
  • Monitor traditional and digital media outlets for news on WWF and other relevant information that may have positive or negative implications to the organization, assisting the rest of the  Communications Unit in the preparation of reports and crisis communications plans. 

Campaigns and Events 

  • Cover the various events, initiatives, and activities of the organization and produce the necessary visual and written materials needed.  
  • Help manage special projects (e.g. Earth Hour) with the objective of raising awareness through conceptualization and implementation of events, including but not limited to coordination and logistics, with the supervision of the Integrated Communications Manager. 
  • Plan, identify and execute various communications strategies with the rest of the Communications  Unit to achieve campaign objectives. 

Brand Management 

  • Knowledge of WWF brand standards and updates established within the WWF network.
  • Ensure that the brand standards of WWF-Philippines are met across all communications, internal and external. 
  • Ensure that the values of WWF-Philippines are met across all communications, internal and external.
  • Work on targets for brand awareness and plans to achieve brand awareness goals
  • Support and assist market research initiatives in coordination with research needs of Individual Donors Program, Corporate Partnership programs, Major Gifts, Merchandising, and other requirements from internal WWF units.
  • Identify risks to the WWF brand and help determine strategies to mitigate these risks.

Sustainability Issues 

  • Remain up-to-date on international and local issues that pertain to WWF’s mission and scope of work. Keep abreast of issues pertaining to key network initiatives. 
  • Maintain comfortable knowledge of all sustainability issues enough to write appropriate articles, give lectures when needed, and make presentations to key audiences.

  1. Participate actively in WWF’s undertakings, helping change the organization’s climate to foster innovation  and professionalism 
  2. Assist in the processes to ensure organizational changes are implemented effectively.

Managing People & Relations: 

  1. Attend regular staff meetings and participate in regular planning and assessment meetings with staff vis-à vis set plans.  

Managing Resources: 

  1. Manage efficiently the resources of WWF. This includes ensuring resources are used in a sustainable way and identifying ways for reducing the overall consumption of finite resources. 
  2. Take responsibility for the safekeeping, proper use, and upkeep of WWF equipment in the office and in the  field (i.e. computers, vehicles, etc.) 
  3. Handle cash advances and liquidate the same within the required period per Project and WWF Policy. 

Managing Information and Knowledge: 

  1. Uphold the intellectual property rights of WWF across all communications and merchandising/licensing programs. 

Others:

  1. Ensure professionalism in conducting business within and outside WWF.  
  2. Participate in official activities of WWF (e.g. Organizational Development, Assessment, Strategic Planning,  Rest and Recreation, and the like) when participation is so required 
  3. Support WWF’s efforts to build its membership in support of the institution’s sustainability. 
  4. Uphold the high-quality standard of WWF’s work and actively advocates the institution’s Vision, Mission, and Strategies. 
  5. Internalize the values of WWF and practice the work ethics of the institution.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    1. At least 2 years of related communications/marketing/events experience, preferably in an NGO setting
    2. Excellent written and oral communication skills 
    3. Good program/events management skills 
    4. Sound strategic planning sensibilities
